Further Research 2
In this session, I will continue research the second artist for my project to improve ideas and design.
The second designer that I would like to research is John Pawson. He is a British architectural designer known for his minimalist style. He founded his studio in London in 1981. Pawson is famous for his minimalist approach, focusing on light, space, and natura materials. His projects include private houses, galleries, and retail spaces. His work have influenced contemporary interior design worldwide, particularly in using minimalist to create a natural spaces.
The first Pawson's project I research is Copenhagen Apartment, which is located in Copenhagen Denmark. The whole design depend on three factors: white, light, and wood. The apartment looks very simple but feel calm and natural. The living room has wide oak floors, white walls, large windows that allow soft daylight to spread across the space. There are few piece of furniture, which makes the room open and peaceful. The kitchen also use smooth wooden surfaces and clean white cabinets. Even though there is little decoration, the natural materials create warm feeling.
There is not much decorating, but the natural factors make it feel cozy. Everything in this project has thoughfully arranged to achieve balance. White surfaces reflect light, making the apartment feel more spacious and bright. Pawson shares that "Creating this apartment for Dinesen, as the natural home for furniture pieces I have designed, feels like a completion of a full circle" (Dinesen n.d.).

Another his work is Schrager Apartment, which is located at 40 Bond in New York. In this project, Pawson worked with Schrager to do it. He was careful with his choice of materials. In the kitchen, he used black granite and polishes, stained Japanese cedar. These two materials create a contrast between the solidity of stone and warmth of wood, which balance the space. Moreover, the color palette is also simple. White wall are used to divide the living room, kitchen, and library, creating an open space. He used beigr-grey wood planks for the floors, which make the balance of color. Pawson also kept the furniture and decor minimal, helping to highlight colors and materials he used. He once said: "It's everything you need, but nothing extra." (The talk, 2023). This describes the simple, functional in this project.

For me, his works bring a lot of inspirations to me. From the way he uses soft colors and beige tones to the color combination in the interior to highlight the materials, it reminds me many things in my Wabi-sabi project. I also like the way he uses wood furniture to create a cozy, relaxing and comfortable space.

This is not a bad effort for a research post, but one thing that you should improve here is the linking to your project - make it clearer WHY John Pawson is important to your project - use of space or fabrics or colour scheme - direct the research more effectively.
