Website Creation: About me - Research and Process

Today, I am going to explore website of Nate Berkus, who is a famous interior designer in the NY. 

The homepage

When I come his homepage, I could feel the warm and cozy atmosphere. This homepage is really clear and simple, showing a beautiful living room with a fireplace and stylish furniture. This homepage is really effective to show with everyone that he is an interior designer. Moreover, his name 'Nate Berkus' is put in the middle of the homepage that make his name look more outstanding, and his clients can know that this is an interior design website of Nate Berkus. The neutral color and simple layout make this homepage look elegant and calm.

The short slogan "Everything you love. collected and assembled in one place." lets me understand that this website is not just about showing products or projects, but also about expressing Nate's personal style.

Right below the main slogan, there is a section called "Foundations" with the line "Timeless design that feels personal". It shows that Nate focuses on creating spaces that are comfortable for his clients while still bring uniques in his style.

I think adding his shop section on the homepage help visitors access and buy his products easily. When people visit the website, they can quickly find the things he designs, like furniture or decorations, which is an effective way to promote his business.

I think this section is used to show the lastest news and projects from Nate. It helps visitors know what he is doing now, like new book tours or home design. This part makes the website feel more personal because it shows real work and real places, not just products. 

The About me page 

The opening of Nate's "about me" section is very interesting. The first sentence about telling people's stories through design makes a strong impression because it shows his creative and emotional side. The next sentences talk about his fame and experience, which help build trust. They show that he is successful and respected, but the tone still feels friendly and personal.

Additionally, this section provides a lot of information about Nate Berkus's career and success in interior design, television, product collections, and even movies. I also like that he mentions his love for vintage furniture and travel, because it shows his personal style and inspiration, which makes him a professional. The passage about his books and TV shows help readers understand more about his success in different fields. Furthermore, the final quote "Design, to me, is part psychology, part sociology, and part magic." shows that he has a crucial passion with design and always consider design to be something meaningful and valuable. 

My own the About me page

After researching about the 'Homepage' and 'About me' page of Nate Berkus, I wrote my information in 'About me'. I wrote based on 'who I am', 'how I got to be who I am', 'what I am doing now', and 'what my future is'. I tried to make my page easier to read. I want visitors to understand more about me and show them about my personal style in interior design. 

After that, I was supported to take some photos for 'About me' page, and I chose a black-and-white image to replace the old background photo. 

Overall, through this process, it has helped me understand more about how to present myself online, think carefully about the images and words I use, and make my 'About me' page look more personal and professional.
