Website Further Development

In this session, I learned how to edit and customise the 'Contact' page on my Wix webiste. I started by opening Wix and going to the Dashboard to edit my site, then I chose the 'Contact' page from the Site Pages and Menu.

First, i added a premade contact form from the 'Add Elements' section. I looked for different forms and chose one that suited with my website. I chose a white and simple form to make it match with layout style and I think it was quite effective.

After that, I enlarged the contact form by dragging its corners to make sure it fit within the frame.

Next, I edited the background color into brown to fit with behind background and adjusted the fonts for the header and paragraph to make the design match with other pages.

In the next step, I changed the Submit button color and shape so it looked similar to the other parts of my website.

After that, I continued to create Social Media links to my website. I opened 'Add Elements' and chose a 'Social Bar' from the social section. After plaing it, I dragged it into the footer so it would appear on every page of my site. I clicked on 'Set Social Links' to edit which Social Media buttons I wanted, and I chose a Socia Bar with a black background and white logos, which makes it stand out more when placed in the footer. I also deleted the buttons I didn't need such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Tiktok. Instead of that, I added Blogger logo, which have a lot of my reflection works. Final step, I linked Instagram to my 2D and 3D Instagram sketchbook and Blogger link, so people can see my work. This helped me understand how to connect external platforms to my website, making it more interective and easier for users to explore my work.

And this is final 'Social Media Bar' look of my website.

In the next process, I added a 'Portfolio' page and create a Gallery. In 'Site Pages and Menu' section, I clicked on 'Add Menu Item', chose 'New Page', and selected a Blank Page'. Then I renamed into 'Works'. After that, I made it a subpage under 'Portfolio' page. Next, I added a 'Gallery' to the new page.
I chose 'Slider Galleries' because it was suitable with my major.

After adding 'Slider Galleries', I clicked on each image and selected the ones I wanted for my slide.

I chose 12 pictures to create my gallery. I chose the images of house sketches and colored drawings because they show my practice and improvement in drawing. These pictures reflect my effort to develop better drawing skills.

Some of works were sideways, I went to crop and edit, then rotated them to the correct direction. I found this process quite interesting and easy to do. It helps me understand more about how to edit and arrange picture neatly on my page.

And this is my final 'Portfolio' page.

Overall, I think through each step of the process, such as creating new pages, editing layouts, or adding design style, I understood how to make a professional and creative website. The process allowed me to organise my work and present my idea more clearly. It was quite useful and effective because it helped me learn how to design and manage a professional website in a creative way. It also allows viewers to know more about me, my projects, my design style, and my progress as a student. I found the process enjoyable and helpful, as it gave me more confidence to share my work online.

  1. I'm assuming that the images you added to your gallery is for practise - the gallery is for your Digital Arts Major Project (the Interior Design project you have been working on all term!)

Otherwise, up until the last confusing part, this is a clear post that demonstrates your understanding of creating your contact and portfolio page.
