Ideas Development - The Object Lesson

For my project, I intent to create furniture for bedroom and today, I had to choose an object to develop my original idea and I chose a stag. With this object, I just came up with some ideas related to stag. Firstly, I could see its rough texture as well as its golden color. With the rough texture, I could use it for fabric in curtains, and chairs. With the golden color I could use for decorative items and pictures.

After researching some information online, I discovered some other characteristics of the male deer, such as reddish-brown, white, and tan colors. These colors can be used in interior spaces, especially in bedrooms, as they create a warm and somewhat luxurious feel. I think I'll use these colors for the walls, bed, or rug. Moreover, when I hold them, I feel they have a mysterious and classic feel to them, which is the style I will choose for this project.

Furthermore, with my initial idea for a hammock chair, I stylized the support legs based on horns of stag. I would like to do hammock using reddish brown fabric to create the warmth and colored harmony. The frame of hammock chair could be made from wood and wrapped by black color. It would be placed in the corner of the bedroom to make a relaxing space.

This is a basic sketch of my bedroom design and the placement of the hammock chair. Because this is just an initial idea, I haven't developed much about the furniture, materials, or colors in the space yet. It will have a classic mixing modern style. It includes a wardrobe, a rectangular bed, and two bedside tables in the middle. I also designed a bench at the foot of the bed. On the wall, I add wooden slats behind the bed to create an outstanding and a modern, and classic feel. A hammock chair will be in the corner for relaxation. And I also add a carpet for a cozy atmosphere.

  1. Good to see you thinking about how you might approach this project - would like to see you include what we discussed in session regarding opening your idea out to include other aspects of a larger space that includes more rooms (and a 3D outcome that focuses on one aspect of your design - could be one of the rooms or a piece of furniture).
