Project Development: Demographics

After the second tutorial with my tutor, I looked up the population chart for Barcelona in 2025. It is clear that the 20-39 age group makes the largest proportion of the population. Within that group, the 30-39 age has around 276,294 people, while the 20-29 age has around 224,784 people. This indicates that the majority of population is young people, who are in the process of developing their careers and building their lives. 

In this age group, they are persons who can have stable jobs and may work in business, media, arts, or freelancers. Besides that, they also tend to have a free spirits lifestyle and often get more experiences to learn and broaden their horizons, so they often prefer to live independently, and seperate from their families. Furthermore, they may be in a career development phase, so they also have a tendency to prioritize their careers first. And because of their heavy workload, they cannot like to move far to access amenities. Therefore, they can choose to live in an apartment because these building usually include various amenities such as supermarkets, laundry services, or gyms, providing to their daily needs. 

Regarding lifestyle habits, due to their demending work schedules, they often prefer living in open spaces because this will bring the convenience in the movement. This age group still has a lot of energy and is quite active, so they may need natural light in the morning to relax and recharge. They also require a quiet space in the evening to concentrate on their work. 

                                 

                                 

In my project, my clients are a coupls in their 30s, who work in the art. Therefore, their apartment needs will be slightly different from other couples. Because they work in the arts, they will need a space for creativity in their home, plenty of natural light, and colorful furnitures in their living space. The wife is an illustrator and she will have needs for technology and vibrant colors in their interior design. The husband is an architect and he may specific needs regarding shapes of the furniture and the functional layout of rooms. Additionally, they will also need a large space to store their tools and their artwork. Therefore, I will try to design an apartment that has all the basic functions as well as essential functions for the client's work.
