Development Exercise: Creating Studies
Next, after creating some images using AI and initial ideas, I quickly sketched out the ideas I chose to develop further.
First, there's the image of a curved seating arrangement in various sizes, combined with plants to replace the partition. I could make a solid partition or use small posts like wooden slats as a divider. I got this idea from my initial concept, which was based on a curve form. The taller and larger seats are for adults, while the smaller ones are for children. I could place it in a cafe area or a mezzanine area. However, the drawback is that it would be quite large because it would have to combine the two sides of the seating into one.
Next, I developed the idea for the seating based on an overlapping form. I used the corner space to create steps, each step serving as a seat for guests. I wanted to use it in the Stage Bar Door because it's quite suitable. People can sit there to listen to music and enjoy their beverages. I developed it in two directions. Firstly, the steps would be shaped like waves. I wanted to showcase the curves, making it look more unique. I would add round tables where guests can place their drinks. Secondly, I designed it as a simple arc. I find it quite sophisticated and neat. In a dark space like the Stage Bar Door, its simple shape can help guests feel less overwhelmed and is more appealing to them.
Finally, I drew a set of tables and chairs that could be placed in a cafe or on a mezzanine. I hadn't thought of this idea before, but after thinking about curves and noticing the theatre's curved shape, I added this idea. I drew the chairs in an arc shape, matching with the glass windows of the theatre. Then, instead of drawing a normal standing table, I drew it tilted to one side, creating a table with a new shape. I quite like this idea because it's simple yet modern. It's also very suitable for narrow spaces or seating areas on a mezzanine.

Would be good to see you include the images you are working from with your sketches - would be easier to understand your thought process.
ReplyDeleteGood that you are thinking about how you are going to use the space here and adapt your drawings to the existing area.
