Further Development

To visualize my color choices, I sketched and colored the design to determine the colors I could use and coordinate within the Curve theatre space.

Because the theatre has a traditional red color, I decided to keep red as the main color in this design. However, I want to change the design style to Minimalism, so I will choose simple, less striking colors to highlight the theatre's red. Additionally, I will change the color of the theatre's red because it currently has a bright, warm color, so I will switch to a deeper, cooler red to create a more comfortable feeling and suit the design style I have chosen.

First, I want to experiment with the colors for the mezzanine area. For the seating, I prefer red to match the walls, but I will choose a darker shade of red. For the partition wall, I'll use gray to tone down the red. I'll also use gray for the floor, however, I want the floor color to be darker than the partition wall color so it can help highlight the furniture more. Additionally, I also paid attention to the color of the plants in the partition. I wanted the plants to be greenish-orange, similar to acer rubrum, so that they would have a similar color scheme.

Additionally, I also experimented with color for the curved seating area in the Green Door Cafe. This was to highlight the table and the seat cushions. With the curved chairs, I would use a dark gray to balance the colors in the space. Therefore, I could use a light colored floor such as wood or a light colored rug like beige or light red to harmonize the colors in the space. This would help create a relaxing and modern yet minimalist space and help create an open feel due to the color consistency.

  1. Could you scan your images and add a correct reference please (or add a click through link underneath your image), please.

I would like to see you de3velop some early concept sketch ideas based on the primary research (photographs) you took at the Curve - print out, use a light pad and then start to image how you can transform the space with colour, form, through space etc.
