Further Ideas Generation (AI)

In the second session, I learned how to use AI to create conceptual images. I learned how to use DeepAI as a tool to support idea generation for my project.

To create an image, I need to log in with my Google account. Then I select Image Generator to create the image.

Next, I chose the style I wanted the AI to create for me. And I chose 'watercolor architecture generator' because I found it quite suitable for interior images.

Next, I wrote the prompt I wanted to send to the AI for editing. This is my prompt: 'Interiors and furnitureings of the social spaces at the Curve Theatre in Leicester City Centre, including the bar area for Stage Door Bar, the seating area for the Mezzanine area, and a variety of trees in the Green Room Cafe, with neutral tones like beige, brown, gray, and white in the style of Minimalism. Consider the traffic flow through the space.' Finally, I pressed generate to create the image. I found it very helpful in finding ideas because it could follow commands. However, it was only a simulated image and couldn't be used for the actual space.

This is the first image created by the AI, and although the colors and spatial arrangement are quite neat and easy to navigate, because it's an AI image, it doesn't resemble the actual space. This makes it a bit difficult for me to accurately visualize what might happen when I redesign the theater interior. I like the bar layout in this image. I can utilize the style of this bar and adjust its size to fit the actual space. In reality, the theater bar area is quite narrow but extended and curved, so I want to change the colors and rearrange the functions of the bar area to make it more suitable.

This is the second image from AI. I don't like the bar area because it looks quite simple and classic, more like a reception area. However, the shape and arrangement of the tables and chairs are quite interesting. For me, the U shaped seating is quite suitable for a cafe area, allowing people to relax and enjoy their drinks. Additionally, I like the seating area around the potted plants. It helps to create a cool and airy atmosphere with the plants, while expanding the space by combining different functions.

  1. Would like to see more of the images you made during/after the session last week.

Despite my misgivings about AI one thing that does work is it is a good way of visualising some aspects of a design that you can build on. Please post the follow ups to this as requested, for example the creating studies post which was part of your Week 1 requirement.

  2. Maybe add a couple more to give you more options to work from.
