Further Development - Experimentation with space

I created some sketches of concept. I drew it quite simply, without too much detail, because I wanted to clarify the concept and the placement of the furniture before adding details.

For the Green Room Cafe area, I sketched concepts for the low seating area and the beverage counter area. One side is a view of the low bench, while the right side is a view of the coffee counter. However, my 3D drawing skills are not very good, so the vanishing point might be slightly off. For the coffee counter, I want to keep it as it is, as it has already divided into two counters, which one for customers and other smaller one for staff. Regarding the flooring, I have not decided on a specific material yet, so I didn't include it in the drawing. Therefore, after researching suitable materials, I will draw and color them to represent materials.

Next, I drew two different viewpoints on the Mezzanine. On the leftside is the walkway with benches, and on the rightside, I drew some vending machines. I decided to put the vending machines at both ends of the Mezzanine because the Mezzanine is quite long, so it can make customers have to walk so far to buy food and drinks from the vending machines.

For the Stage Door Bar, I redesigned the bar area. I wanted it to have two tables. One is a taller table at the front, and other one would serve as a bar counter for guests. The table behind it would be lower, used for preparing drinks. Between the two tables, they would be connected by a vertical table, but half of that table would be higher for guests to place their drinks, and the other half lower for staff to prepare drinks. This would save space at the bar. For the bar stools, I wanted high, swivel stools as they would be more comfortable for guests. Additionally, the curved shape of the stools would provide a more stable seating experience.

This is my sketch of it when it was placed in Curve Theatre. I added wooden slats to the bar counter to create a focal point and a simple yet elegant feel. I also added lighting and the bar's appliances.

Although I have not drawn all the details of different angles in each space and clarified the materials yet, I have imagined the placement of the furniture and how it will fit into the minimalist concept. I will continue to add materials by coloring. Additionally, I want to experiment with colors to make sure I can create depth and highlight the furniture using color and materials.

  1. The sketches look good for this stage of the project - particularly the first one. Remember what I said about student voice.
