Floorplan

This week, to create the floor plan, I depends on the Curve Theatre layout image from the Studio Seilern Architects website.

I used AutoCAD to create the floor plan. Initially, I intended to use Homebyme, but I didn't know how to draw circles in that application, so I chose to draw in AutoCAD instead of Homebyme. For the dimensions, I had to estimate based on the existing images of the areas I needed to redesign.

First, I redrew the basic frame layout of the building with my own approximate dimensions. It was quite difficult because I didn't have the exact dimensions and it had many ovals and uneven curves. It took me 3 days to redraw the floorplan framework to make it as close to reality as possible.

Next, I created the walls by copying the lines I already drew to form the walls. And then, I drew the door using straight lines and circles. It was quite easy. For the door, I drew it in red color to easily distinguish it from the other lines.

After that, I drew the interior using the green lines and arranged them to fit the dimensions. I relied on practical researches of the concept to determine the furniture placement. Additionally, I used the existing furniture positions as a reference, as I kept the locations of the two beverage counters and the bar, making the arrangement more logical.

In the Green Room Cafe area, I reduced the number of small tables, replacing them with larger, longer tables to improve traffic flow.

In the Stage Door Bar area, I added a small wall, where the old stage used to create a big tiered seating. I can make sure that it doesn't affect other areas because there is an emergency exit behind it, and the side door I added is still large enough for an emergency exit. Otherwise, I kept everything the same as the bubble diagram I created.

Then, I copied it to another version to create the Mezzanine area. There were no layouts for this area online, so I had to rely on actual photos I took during my visit. From what I observed, it was located outside of the ground floor, so I added another line, extending from the entrance at the Green Room Cafe to the door of the Stage Door Bar.

Finally, I measured the length and width of the areas and printed them out as a file to include in my portfolio.
